CARPOOL REMINDERS

Mitchell Meteors will begin instruction at 7:40 each day and end their instructional day at 3:00pm. All scholars will enter the Mitchell campus through the front entrance each day.

 

Please be sure to communicate how your child will go home daily to their teacher. Dismissal options are as follows:

 

•  Bus: Your child will ride the bus home daily (see PISD Transportation Webpage for Bus Routes, times and locations)
•  Walker Door: Your child will be picked up from their grade level walker door exits (listed below) by an adult that parks and walks up to campus.
•  Carpool: Your child will be picked up by an adult who drives through the carpool lane (route listed below)
•  Daycare: Your child will be picked up by a third party day care or attend PASAR after school care here at Mitchell.

 

Please note that all dismissal times, especially carpool lines, will be longer the first week of school as staff, students, and families learn the system. Safety is our first priority.

 

Meteors can start arriving on campus at 7:00. Students who eat breakfast are encouraged to arrive from 7:00-7:20 so that they have time to eat and get to class on time. All carpool & walkers students must enter the building through the front doors.

We kindly ask that students are not dropped off before 7:00 a.m. unless they are supervised by an adult.

 

Bus: PISD Buses will drop off students by the gym entrance and let in through the side of the building No Car should be dropping off students in the bus entrance/ staff parking lot. To see if you qualify for bus services visit PISD Transportation

Walkers: Students walking to school or being dropped off by walking should walk and enter through the front entrance. Please be sure you are utilizing the crossing guards as you cross the street. We have a crossing guard on Rainsong Dr and Briargrove who can escort families.

• Do NOT park in the staff parking lot on the side of the building to drop off students
• Do NOT drop off students in the bus lane
• Do NOT school side of Briargrove Lane or park in the carpool lane
• Do NOT use neighbors’ driveways to park
• No pets on school property

 

 

We have a strict flow of entrance and exit for our carpool. Cars may turn RIGHT only from Briargrove Ln into the school’s main entrance to drop students off. Please be sure you pull all the way forward as close to circle spot #1 to ensure cars behind are able to drop off students as well. We DO NOT allow left turns or U-Turns into the Carpool lane. Please refer to the second map as a reference of how to join our carpool line from other entrances.

• Do NOT park in the staff parking lot

• Do NOT drop off in the bus lane at the side of the school

• Do NOT U-TURN into the carpool lane or turn Left into carpool lane

 

• North off of Voss Rd (YELLOW): turn left Creekmeadow Drive, then right on Shadowglen Drive, then right on Bretton Bay Lane, then right on Briargrove Lane

• East off of DNT frontage road with a left on Briargrove (ORANGE): Stay on Briargrove lane and turn right at the school

• South off of Voss Rd (BLUE): Turn Right from Voss Road to Bretton Bay Lane or High Star Lane. Then Turn Left onto Briargrove Lane.

• West off of Briargrove Lane (PURPLE): Turn right on Voss Road. Turn left at High Star Lane. Then, Turn Left onto Briargrove Lane.

Our school day ends at 3:00 pm. Students will only be released to those who are on Skyward family, their emergency list or who have our School Pick Up Signs. School Pick Up Signs are required to be shown in order to pick up students.

 

It is important for our school system and the safety of our students that you maintain a consistent dismissal location. If someone different is going to pick up your students, please be sure they are informed of the method the students usually gets picked up to maintain consistency.

 

There are 4 types of dismissal for students: carpool, walker pick up, bus, daycare/ PASAR/ after school programming.

 

 

• Bus: PISD Buses will depart from Mitchell by 3 PM once all students are accounted on the bus. To see if you qualify for bus services visit PISD Transportation

• Daycare/ PASAR: There are local daycares that provide transportation pick up after school and can pick up from the campus. Please be sure to inform the student's classroom teacher of the name and contact information of the daycare they will attend. Plano ISD also offers afterschool care programming at Mitchell, PASAR. • Carpool: see route info above. Please be sure students are picked up by 3:20 pm

• Walkers: Walker dismissal occurs on the backside of the school as shown in the image below. Follow the yellow arrows shown to make your way around to the correct entrance, Please ensure you have our School Pick Up Signs with you with your student(s)’s name, grade, and teacher listed when you arrive. Please wait in a single file line away from the exit door to ensure smooth dismissal. If you do not have a sign please visit the front office

• Only 4th & 5th grade students are currently allowed to dismiss without a parent present and walk on their own home. Please note that once students are dismissed the school is no longer responsible for students. Students should be walking directly home to designated pick up location. Some students choose to go to a nearby park to play while waiting for a ride. Without adult supervision, this also presents a safety concern. We ask that students go directly home or are supervised by a responsible adult after dismissal if they are going to play.
